“This program has helped me in a positive way by showing me that there are ways to change your community or the world just by being one person and taking one step at a time. The mural helped in a positive way because not only did it help me learn painting skills but it also helped me show people that not all children in our community are bad youth and that they do good things in the community. The (music) recording was a positive thing for me because it is helping me achieve my dream of becoming a musical artist and express some hard situations that I am going through in my family. And finally, the planning of our (Community Love) Event has taught me to be patient, organized and prepared for important things that will happen in the near or far future. And I love everyone in this program”

Working with POR AMOR’s “Youth 4 Human Writes” has changed my life in many ways. I met new friends and I never thought that I would ever be an artist until I wrote my first lines within the walls of this program. My artistic skills reached great heights due to all the artistic workshops we had with other professional artist and entrepreneurs. My skills were developed when I helped in creating a mural for Amnesty Internationals project “Urban Canvas”. During the seven weeks of the program I was able to learn about human rights and other models of education Before this program I was just a regular youth and at the end I became very knowledgeable about the community and the world around me. I learned the importance of the community and was able to use what I learned after I left the program to help me in school. This experience has changed my life in many ways, as I move forward in the future I will look back on this and smile  the same big smile I always had when I was in the program

“I just wanted to let you know that I really wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me this summer. You have passed down education and knowledge that I will hold in my heart for the rest of my life. I have been blessed with the knowledge of my heritage and my ancestors. I also wanted to thank God for sending you guys down my path to educate me and bless me with pride about my culture. Before this summer I was trying to become something I am not, but now I'm trying to go back home and learn more from my grandmother. Thank you for taking me out of my comfort zone by letting me see other cultures and communities other then my daily routine”.

Community Partnership

“It has been great for the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough to partner with
POR AMOR to be able to provide services in the Kingston-Galloway neighbourhood. With

POR AMOR's creative ability it has helped us reach youth that we would normally not be able to reach and engaged in meaningful community change. The partnership has brought greater visibility to both organizations through the human rights mural and “Community Love” Events. As we grow and expand our services in the future we are thrilled to have
POR AMOR as one of our partners”
